Gunselman says his sponsor, Fred’s, does not want Mayfield in the car. Baldwin says Mayfield has too much baggage to drive his car. Mayfield’s indefinite suspension for a failed drug test was lifted by a federal judge on Wednesday, allowing him to race this weekend. U.S. District Court Judge Graham Mullen says “the court finds the harm to Mr. Mayfield significantly outweighs any harm to NASCAR.” NASCAR had indefinitely suspended Mayfield on May 9 after he tested positive for methamphetamines on May 1.
